Rip Curl is a major Australian manufacturer of surfing sports equipment that has been in business since 1974. It is located in the south end of El Camino Real in San Clemente over looking the ocean and is one of the largest surf shops in the world, offering quality products from surfboards to apparel.

Open seven days a week, this location of Taco Surf has two surfboards on its roof, with a continuation of its tropical shack aesthetic inside. Established in 1979, La Jolla Surf Systems features surfboards, accessories and classic surf apparel for men, women and children. It also provides surf lessons and offers rentals of surfboards, wetsuits, kayaks, boogie-boards, snorkeling gear and beach chairs. Two-hour private surf lessons are offered daily at 6am, 7am and 8am and group lessons are available upon request. Daily Kayak tours, which take guests throughout the La Jolla Underwater Park and Marine Wildlife Sanctuary, are offered. The business is located close to the beach.

Captain's Helm is a fun, unique clothing store located along South Coast Highway. It offers a wide selection of interesting items that range from helmets to T-shirts to surfboards. Everything is sold from a large, open space with a nautical theme. DVDs, stickers and wet suits are also sold in-store. The employees are young, energetic and outgoing, carrying the same hip, trendy vibe as the store. Everything is neatly laid out and easy to find, with indie music playing over the speakers and a welcoming vibe throughout. Credit cards are accepted and parking is free on-site.
