The original location for Yeah! Burger, Shaun Doty and Erik Mayer's entry in the environmentally friendly, farm-to-table fast-food sweepstakes, overlooks the intersection of 14th Street and Howell Mill Road. Its sharp design -- lots of unfinished wood paneling intersecting with wide, white tiles -- and cartoony wall flourishes give it the look of well-established national chain. Given time, its creators might achieve such ubiquity. The two partners have made this restaurant 100 percent recyclable or compostable in what it uses, even down to the turbopowered hand dryer and the waterless urinal in the men's room. As for the food, Yeah! Burger takes an idea from Baskin-Robbins and doubles it for fast-food fixtures: It offers both a burger of the month and a shake of the month. For grown-ups, the main counter also doubles as a full (no, really full) bar. Although the concept takes a minute to be believed, the next reasonable reaction to this place is, Why didn't someone think of this earlier?
