Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of three junior high schools in Davis, along with Oliver Wendell Holmes and Frances Harper. The school is located just west of Highway 113 and serves grades 7 through 9. The Rockband University specializes in teaching people how to better play in a band. It currently specialize in catering to ages 10-18 but are considering expanding its services because of demand. The services include matching musicians into bands, strengthening skills and coordinating venues. It caters to all levels and hosts shows year round; the location can be rented out as well. All proceeds from its concerts go toward the Davis Schools Arts Foundation (DSAF), benefiting music, art and performance arts programs in local Davis schools.
Redbud Montessori was founded in 1984. The Montessori system and philosophy is that children teach themselves. The school offers extended day care services. For more information, parents can contact staff members and go online to view various programs.
A private religious educational institution, GVCA is organized for kindergarten through ninth grade. The Academy provides, stated a spokesperson, "high academic standards in a safe and disciplined atmosphere." There are many electives available as well, including Spanish, choir and drama. Students may participate in a variety of sports. The Academy fields teams that compete in the Sacramento-based Parochial Athletic League (PAL).
It is a very structured educational environment, with a lot of rules, designed to encourage students to always honor authority, to be polite, productive, prompt and prepared," said the spokesman.
The Davis Academy Driving School, while serving seemingly everywhere in California, is a notoriously hard place to locate if you are trying to find the actual physical location. Tucked into a little niche behind the Secretariat on the corner of G Street and 4th, it is a very easy office to miss, so make sure to look hard! The office and business has been family owned and operated by Leticia Saez for almost 20 years and caters to not only Davis residents, but the surrounding areas all the way down to Stockton. It offers behind the wheel training and driver's education and is DMV-certified to do so; they are a popular pick with the younger crowd as it uses convertible Mustangs for the behind the wheel training.
Davis Senior High School is a public high school with a solid academic reputation focused on preparing students for college. The fully accredited school enrolls students from grades 10 through 12. The high school is very diverse, with students from more than 60 countries who speak more than 25 native languages, according to the school's website. The mascot is the Blue Devil.

Davis Fencing Academy teaches the combative sport of fencing with foil, sword and epee. It offers private and group lessons. This fencing academy also meets California State Standards for high school PE credit. To attend classes, you must pay a monthly fee of $50 plus the cost of classes. Non-members can come use the floor for $10 dollars a day.
DAS offers a varied and unique selection of both state-approved and community interest continuing education classes. Peregrine School is a private non-profit school founded in 2007. Reggio Emilia-inspired, this school serves grades 1 - 6 and holds a philosophy based on the belief that children naturally create their own knowledge. Built in 1949 to house the UC Davis Plant Science Department, U-shaped Hunt Hall is the first educationally purposed building you'll notice on the west side of the main campus entrance (across from the main Unitrans bus terminal). Facilities include lecture halls, classrooms, labs and offices.
Hunt Hall is also home to the UCD Landscape Architecture Department; renderings of construction projects adorn the first floor halls. UCD Landscape Architecture faculty and students have contributed to the designs of Davis greenbelts and other public projects across Northern California.
"That's too mainstream for KDVS," a station DJ remarked when asked if Stevie Wonder got played on a KDVS show featuring soul music. You won't hear big name Top 40-style musicians on the KDVS airwaves. They're not allowed in its "freeform" programming. The volunteer DJ's and engineers instead broadcast an eclectic selection ranging from blues, to folk and beyond, which includes punkabilly, "noise," Japanese pop, Punjabi hymns, speed metal and other genres you may never have heard of. There's plenty for a KDVS DJ putting a show together to choose from. The student-run station boasts the second-largest vinyl collection in the state of California (the biggest is privately held), a huge CD archive, old cassette tapes and plenty of other media. Bands of every description are constantly add to the "current" bin, which features in several new music shows. KDVS also offers public service programs including news, call-in talk shows and sports.

The Davis Waldorf School is a local nonsectarian private school that offers eductaion to students in preschool to the 8th grade. The school was founded in 1986 and serves 215 children on its5-acre campus in North Davis.
