Enter the smooth, modern lounge of Union Pizzeria for a drink and a slice of Margherita pizza hot from an enormous wood-burning oven. Chef Vince DiBattista delivers gourmet Italian-influenced small plates such as eggplant caponata, calamari and octopus. The seasonal menu uses locally grown, organic ingredients. The long bar opens at night with twenty-six different beers and fifty wines under $50. The dessert menu is equally ambitious: it sports polenta pound cake and chocolate panna cotta with brandied cherries.
The Rhythm Room is a restaurant and cocktail lounge located in the Century Evanston 12 / CinéArts 6 Theatre. The jazz and cocktail lounge offers appetizers, salads, sandwiches, wraps, desserts and soups, accompanied by live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The lounge has floor-to-ceiling windows, a 60-foot black granite bar and oversized leather couches. The menu items can be made to go and brought into the theater. The full bar has more than 50 beers and an extensive wine list as well as a billiards room, free Wi-Fi and high-definition flat panel TVs.
Ward Eight is a cocktail bar serving classic, old-fashioned cocktails made with local and craft spirits, as well as fine wines, local craft beers and absinthe. Customers may also choose from a menu of handcrafted sandwiches and relax with friends in the stylish yet cozy atmosphere. Drink and food orders are placed at the bar.
The Cellar at The Stained Glass creates American, European and international dishes, such as braised pork belly, sauteed escargot and bacon wrapped dates. Alcoholic beverages include wine, beer on tap and in bottles, and cocktails.
Managed in part by the affable Jim Pomerantz, BAT 17 is a small but comfortable deli and pub which takes pains to ensure a fine dining experience - for example, every BAT 17 sandwich is made with bread exclusively baked by Evanston's own Bennison's Bakery, which uses organic and whole grain flours. BAT 17 also uses corned beef and pastrami from Chicago-based Kelly Eisenberg Deli, free range chickens from Midwestern farms and homemade original desserts such as frosted oatmeal cherry cookies.
